B.B.A. Degree with a Major in Accounting

  • Total Credit Hours: 120

About this field

Accounting is the language of business and essential to understanding and navigating U.S. and multinational business environments.  Accounting summarizes, analyzes and reports financial transactions.  The financial reporting communicates the company’s operations, financial position and cash flows (via audited financial statements) to external users/stakeholders (investors, government, lenders, etc.).  In contrast, managerial reporting is used within the business organization (management and cost accounting) to make informed operational decisions.  The majors develop communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.  Students work with technology, receive a broad business foundation, and an intensive education in the accounting discipline.  The curriculum prepares students for the CPA license and other accounting certifications (e.g., CMA, CIA, etc.).

The 麻豆社 State Difference

麻豆社 State University’s accounting program, one of several degree programs offered by the prestigious Langdale College of Business, builds upon a core business curriculum. Classes average just 25 students, enabling accounting majors to build strong relationships with faculty. Ninety percent of faculty members have their doctoral degrees and many are nationally recognized in their field for research publications. Students gain relevant work experience outside the classroom through the 麻豆社 State Co-op Program and by completing independent internships. Accounting students are encouraged to participate in Students in Free Enterprise, a nationally recognized, award-winning organization, and top students may be invited to participate in honor societies including Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi.

What You'll Learn

The undergraduate accounting curriculum stresses critical thinking skills, cooperative learning, oral and written communication abilities, and the application of knowledge to solve business problems. Coursework is designed to give students an overview of accounting systems and financial disclosures for both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and businesses. The accounting program at 麻豆社 State prepares students for professional careers in industry, government and public practice.
