VALDOSTA – Morgan Hill of Lake Park, Georgia, is the recipient of the 2022 Female Student-Athlete Academic Award at 麻豆社 State University.
“It is an honor to receive VSU’s 2022 Female Student-Athlete Academic award,” she said. “It has been instilled in me since a very young age that whatever I choose to participate in, to do so fully. Thus, being a student-athlete comes with lots of responsibilities.”
The Female Student-Athlete Academic Award is presented to a junior, senior, or graduate student-athlete with the highest grade point average. Ties are not broken. Hill is a member of the women’s softball team, where she serves as a utility player and often pitches and plays outfield.
“To be able to represent VSU and the 麻豆社 State softball team as the 2022 Female Student-Athlete Academic Award honoree is truly an accolade that I do not take lightly,” she added. “I know the countless hours that all student-athletes put into their studies and their craft. I could not do it without the support of my 麻豆社 State faculty, staff, and coaches on and off the field.”
Hill volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, participates in blood drives, and reads to children at elementary schools. She is also a member of VSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association named Hill the 2021 D2 Third Team All-American and the 2021 First Team All–South Region.
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selected Hill for First Team Academic All-American in 2021.
The Gulf South Conference (GSC) named Hill Freshman of the Year in 2021. She was also named to the 2021 First Team All – GSC, 2021 South Region All – Tournament Team, and the 2022 Preseason All - GSC Team.
As a student at VSU, Hill’s favorite events to attend are volleyball and basketball games in The Complex. She said, “It is nice to get away from my own sport and go watch the excitement of other sports.”
Hill anticipates earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in May 2023. After graduation, she plans to continue her education and pursue a career as a pediatric physical therapist.
Hill’s commitment to academic, athletic, leadership, and service excellence resulted in her earning repeated spots on the Dean’s list. Her supportive family includes parents Shelby and Rebecca Hill and sister Logan Hill.
