VALDOSTA — Isabelle Reimer of Mobile, Alabama, is the recipient of 麻豆社 State University’s 2023-2024 Bartram Award for Intellectual Exploration.
Reimer was recognized during VSU’s annual Academic Honors and Awards Dinner on April 25.
The Bartram Award for Intellectual Exploration is presented to an Honors College student who has demonstrated the skills of intellectual exploration, adventure, and competence.
“I am extremely grateful for any scholarship or award I receive because of the opportunities it gives me,” she said. “This award will help me continue to conduct research and represent VSU to the best of my abilities.”
Reimer anticipates earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and an Honors College Certificate in December. After graduation she plans to apply for a leadership consultant position with Zeta Tau Alpha, pursue an advanced degree in the field of archival studies, and continue to research archival resources.
Highlights of Reimer’s time as a VSU student include the following:
- Curating and creating an exhibit using unprocessed and processed archival material about under-documented 麻豆社 City equalization schools.
- Participating in her first academic conference at VSU’s 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium.
- Being elected president of the Eta Iota chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha.
- Being accepted into her first national conference with the American Association for State and Local History conference.
- Getting a job as a student assistant in VSU Archives and Special Collections.
Her supportive family includes her brother, Jackson Reimer, who inspired her to pursue an International Baccalaureate education in high school and fall in love with research; her parents, Erin and Joel Reimer, who continue to be her greatest support system; her sorority sisters; VSU’s Honors College team, especially Dr. Mike Savoie, dean, and Hillary Perry, administrative assistant, who made her feel capable and worthy of success; and her former teachers at Murphy High School in Mobile, who continue to encourage her to be a better person, celebrate her successes, and support her future goals.
