The Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration Outstanding Student Award is presented to a student with a record of academic excellence and distinguished service inside and outside the classroom.
“Winning this award feels like the cherry on top of an already amazing college experience,” she said. “The road to this award has been fulfilling but also challenging at times. It is an honor to receive recognition for the hard work and dedication it has taken to get to this point. Winning this award makes me even more proud to call myself a Blazer.”
Fussell earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance at VSU in 2023. She anticipates graduating with a Master of Accountancy in December. After graduation she plans to pursue her certified public accountant credentials while working for Mauldin & Jenkins, a public accounting firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
Highlights of Fussell’s time as a student at VSU include the following:
- Visiting Croatia and Turkey through study abroad.
- Becoming president of Beta Alpha Psi: The International Honor Organization for Financial Information Students and Professionals.
- Visiting Las Vegas, Nevada, for Beta Alpha Psi’s annual conference.
- Participating in the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and preparing tax returns for underserved community members for the past three years.
“I would not have been able to achieve this award without the support of my parents, Kim Fussell and Coy Fussell; my sister, Kailey Fussell; and my canine brother, Scrappy. Throughout my college career, their support and encouragement has allowed me to focus on my studies and make the most of my college experience.”
