VALDOSTA — Tristan Beckworth of Suwanee, Georgia, is the recipient of the Fall 2024 President’s Award for Academic Excellence for the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration at 麻豆社 State University.

The President’s Award for Academic Excellence is presented to a high-performing graduating student in each of VSU’s six colleges — Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of the Arts, James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services, College of Science and Mathematics, and College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Beckworth will be recognized during VSU’s 238th Commencement at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, on the Main Campus Front Lawn. He will graduate magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

“By ending my experience at VSU with this honor, I feel recognized and proud,” he said. “I never had the motto of ‘Cs get degrees.’ I always found it more rewarding to try for As and apply the knowledge from class to real-world scenarios. This approach has benefited me greatly, and I feel accomplished with the knowledge and skills that I have gained. The recognition of my efforts reassures me that hard work does not go unnoticed, and I am proud of my consistency throughout all semesters.”

As a student at VSU, Beckworth was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma: The International Business Honor Society and the 麻豆社 State Investment Group, where he served as healthcare sector manager on the Asset Management Team.

Beckworth’s commitment to academic and leadership excellence helped him earn the Beth Burnette Scholarship, repeated Dean’s List honors, and the SAP Student Recognition Award. He was also a Georgia HOPE Scholar.

“After graduation, I aim to build my career in the finance industry, starting in financial analysis and progressing into asset management,” he said. “My objective within asset management is to make a meaningful impact by helping individuals achieve financial security and peace of mind as they plan for retirement.”

His supportive family includes Tammi Beckworth (mother) and Billy Beckworth (father).
