Dear Pre-Nursing Major: This map is a term-by-term sample course schedule. The milestones listed below each term are designed to keep you on course to graduate in four years. Two sample schedules are provided as general guidelines to help you build a full schedule each term (one includes summer semester matriculation and one does not). The courses must be selected with your advisor to satisfy all core curriculum and state, lab science, and multicultural requirements.

When reviewing the sample schedules, the schedule is simply a suggestion and intended to provide students with a framework of scheduling classes. The courses listed do not have to be taken in the semester outlined. It should be noted, students must be aware of pre-requisites and must make sure to complete 5 out of 7 math/sciences (indicated on the schedule with a *) at the time of application to the nursing program.

Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations (American Nurses Association, Inc., 2014). The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at 麻豆社 State University is accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Students pursuing a BSN degree are required to complete the university core curriculum prior to admission to the nursing program. Current VSU pre-nursing students are encouraged to work closely with their advisors to ensure timely progression through the core curriculum based on application requirements and application deadlines. Transfer students should contact the College of Nursing and Health Sciences as soon as possible for advisement regarding completion of core curriculum and readiness for admission.

Graduates of the BSN program at 麻豆社 State University are prepared to assume leadership in nursing and health care, implementing roles requiring complex clinical decision making, the provision of excellence in bedside patient care, policy making and management responsibilities. While enrolled in the BSN program, students explore careers in the acute care and community settings along with working with role models from all specialties within nursing.
